This course examines Canada’s legal system, with an emphasis on the impact that our laws have on our everyday lives.  We will study criminal law in order to find out what our rights and responsibilities are under the law and follow cases as they proceed through the courts and the criminal justice system.  Civil law will identify the way Canadians proceed against one another directly with law suits in cases other than criminal and a comparison will be drawn between our laws and those of other counties.
