Congratulations to the team of Ms. Buckley, Ms. Duarte, Mr. Conway, Ms. DeDominicis, Mr. Baigent, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Kovacs, Mr. Soares, Ms. Bellisario, Ms. McBrearty, Mr. Fellin and Mr. Shanahan on receiving the TCDSB Exemplary Practice Award for their project: Beyond Calculators and Protractors: A Comprehensive Approach to the Development of Numeracy Skills in Boys. At a time when boys’ education and achievement is of particular concern, the boys of Neil McNeil are thriving in their acquisition of numeracy skills. Through the collaboration of this multi-disciplinary team, we implemented a series of intentional interventions and strategies to appropriately place students, and meet the learning and instructional needs of boys – to provide each boy with the opportunity and supports to achieve to their potential.
